Students' Council

The Students's council will be holding a joint meeting with Esker's Student council to discuss green issues in the school and plan our approach to achieving a green flag for both our schools.
Watch this space for the outcome of this meeting.

Minutes of the Parents' Association

Hi everyone,
We had Parents Association meeting on 19th March 2009 at 7:30 pm atACETNS and discussed various items. The meeting minutes were signedoff on 2nd April meeting.
Meeting Minutes:0. attendants : Tom, Sofia, Rao, Tina, Monija, Olga1.

Assigned roles and responsibilities like Chair: Hanumantha Rao Marepalli (Rao) Secretary: Tina Brescanu Treasurer: Sofia Alberty2.

Frequency of the meeting: Every 2 weeks, and next meeting on 2ndApril3. Operate as Teacher/Parent association - want a teacherparticipation at every meeting4.

Identified following items to discuss:

(a) Uniforms
(b) Health check-ups by Public health folks
(c) Socialising
(d) Translation Service5.
A couple of ideas were discussed on Socialising aspect:
(a) A Coffee morning at 8:45 am on 24th March and continue thetradition every month
(b) A Parent's night (need to discuss further)
(c) Park visit with other Educate together schools in Lucan area.6. Tom informed the association that a Road race (5 miles) is beingheld on 24th May at Adamstown.
We need volunteers as the school wouldbe used to host participants

Newsletter April 2009

Parents' Coffee Morning
The Parents' Association is having its coffee morning on Tuesday at nine o'clock in the staff morning. Please, if you are around, come in for a cuppa and meet other members of our school society. Thanks to the Committee of the parents association for organising this.

Family Fun Day

Enjoy the free entertainment for children and parents:
10:30 am face painting
11:15 Show for children and talk for parents by Author Oisin McGann " Encourage your child to read"
12 noon: Share your creative skills by taking part in the "MAke a Book" art workshop for parents and children.

Bring along a gas/ESB/phone bill with your name and address and your family can join there and then!

Adamstown Road Race

Adamstown Road race will be held on the 24th of May.

This is a major fundraising event for the school and is supported by the South Dublin Co.Co. and the Developers. We are looking for your support; You can do this by running! helping at the school on the day, advertising this event or if you could source some sponsorship it would be great.

We hope to have an attempt at the Irish record.

Google Calendar

Please keep an eye on the google calendar for an update of events in the school.

GAA
The GAA are holding coaching sessions for our senior infants at 1:30 on Thursdays and for 1st to 6th at 2: 30. You must fill in the form sent to you for your child to partake. Those children who are not members of Adamstown GAA will be charged 1 euro per session.
Normal training sessions for the Adamstown Club take place on Saturday mornings at the school.

Materials Money

Payment for materials for the coming school year will be due in June.

Playball

Adult English Classes
If you are interested in free one to one English classes please contact the office

Thrush Family

We have a thrush family after taking up residence on the school grounds. The parents have been flying around (as parents do) for the last while feeding their clutch of young fledglings. The nest is in the tree by the gate to the basketball courts.

Tae Kwando

We have tae kwando in the school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for adults and children. If you are interested in joining up contact Val Douglas at 0863200782 for more information.

Hip Hop

We also have hip hop dance in the school on Monday afternoons. If you are interested contact the office.

Playball

Play ball is an exciting way to introduce your child to athletics. It is recognised by the athletics association of Ireland and has been very successful in a number of schools in the city. If you are interested in your child partaking please inform the school office.This is for junior infants and senior infants only.


The Playball term runs for 12 weeks and the cost is €70 (These details could not be included on the flyer so might be worth mentioning on the website). 1) Adamstown Castle Educate Together Playball classes will be held on each Tuesday after school. (Junior & Senior @ 1:20pm, 1st & 2nd @ 2:20pm). 2) Esker Educate Together Playball classes will be held on each Wednesday after school. (Junior & Senior @ 1:40pm, 1st & 2nd @ 2:40pm).
