Communication November 2009
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Date for your calendar: The annual Community Christmas Party will be held in St. John’s on the 12th of December.
Another Date: The launch of the Second Level Educate Together School will be launched on the 21st of December in Griffeen ETNS. All the Lucan ETNS have been asked to participate by putting on a display of one aspect of the various festivals of light. This year we have been asked to look at Christmas while other schools will look at solstice, Diwali and Eid. All the partners in our schools are encouraged to become involved. You will get more information on this closer to the date.
Parent Teacher Meetings:
We are holding our parent/teacher meetings in the next couple of weeks. Some of the teachers have already met with some parents. Unfortunately, given the uncertainty regarding public sector strike action we have had to change our plans. The bulk of the Parent /teacher meetings will be held on the second week of December. Information giving the specific times will go out to you today and on Friday. If you are not in a position to attend please contact the class teacher as soon as possible.
New Secretary Appointed:
Following recent interviews we have appointed Deirdre Lynch as our school secretary. Deirdre will be working, initially, for three hours a day: 9.30 am to 12.30 am. There was a lot of interest in this position; I’d like to thank those parents from our school who threw their hats into the ring and applied. I would also like to thank our interview committee for all the time they gave to this process: Mili (Parents’ Representative), Sarah (Community Representative) and Ita (Teachers’ Representative). I would also like to thank Suzanne for all the work and patience shown us over the two years or so.
