Newsletter 18th June 2010

ART FOR ALL DAY: - Our first ‘Art for All’ day was a great success. Thank you to all parents who came in to help.

CLEAN UP: Special thanks to those parents who showed up to do a bit of weeding around the school Friday last.

INTER-CULTURAL DAY: It was a lovely event held in the hall on Sunday last. Well done to the Parents’ Association who organised the event and to those parents and children who performed, cooked and informed us of the different traditions in different countries. Thank you!

CYCLE TRIP: Thanks to the Community Guards (Jim & Tom) for travelling with 4th class on their recent cycle tour.

SANTRY: Well done to our athletes who were involved in the recent sports in Santry. We had no medals but lots of promise. Thank you to the children who were so well behaved, you could take them anywhere!

SCHOOL TOURS: 4TH, 5TH & 6TH classes went to Clare & Limerick. 2nd & 3rd class went to Lullymore Heritage Park. Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class also went to Lullymore.

TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC: Junior classes went on a recent trip to the park for a teddy bear’s picnic. Again thank you to the parents involved.

SPORTS DAY: Sports day was held on Thursday 17th in Griffeen park, on the Hockey grounds and track. Next year the pitch by the train station will be ready. It was a great day and thanks to all those parents who came along.

BOOK AND TOY FAIR: The Parents’ Association will be holding a Toy Fair/Book Fair on Sunday June 27th. If you would like to donate books and toys to this event, please drop them into the school office before Friday 25th June. All proceeds will go towards books for the school library. The Parents’ Association greatly appreciates your help with this.

GRADUATION: Our sixth class will be graduating this Friday 25th June. I would like to wish them the very best in the future and to thank them for their involvement with the Student council, Green Council etc.

VOTE FOR LOGO/CREST: Please, please come in and cast your vote. We have well over 20 entries for the Logo competition from some of the staff, parents and students. The ballot box is just inside the door.

MATERIALS MONEY: Please if you haven’t already done so, send in the materials money for next year.

START DATE: Please note our start date for the new school year is Tuesday 31st August 2010.

OFFICE: The office will be closed Friday 2nd July and will re-open on Monday 23rd August.

LOST PROPERTY: Marks & Spencers wouldn’t get a look in with the amount of clothes we have. Therefore the clothes will be put on display for next Thursday and the following Thursday. If they are not picked up, the clothes will be recycled.
