Agreed Report of the Board of Management April 2010
In Attendance: Meena (Patron’s Rep& Chair), Tom (Principal), Ita (Teachers’ Rep), Kazbek (Parents’ Rep), Mili (Parents’ Rep), Pia (Patron’s Rep. & Recording Secretary), Sarah (Community Rep.& Treasurer), Andrea (Community Rep.).
Enrolment for Next Year
Twenty parents have confirmed for next year’s new junior infants. Tom will apply for developing school status for 2 posts. Currently it looks like the number children who will attend next year will be 174. An permanent appointment will be made based on our numbers on the 30th of September. If there are 179 children then a 2nd appointment is possible and if there are 184 children a 3rd appointment will be made under developing school status. It will be necessary to ascertain the number of children leaving the school before the start of the next school year.
Vaccinations
In regards to the upcoming MMR vaccinations the class teacher will be making the final check and be responsible for the right children getting the vaccination. The day before the vaccination take place there will be a meeting to ensure all parties know their role.
A policy on the vaccination process is currently being drafted and will be completed asap. In the future vaccinations will be done one school at a time.
Language Test
The Board has approved the purchase of the Bracken Language test at the cost of 700 euro
Management Data System
The board approved getting a new management system database, which will ease the administration. The cost will be €400 + vat = €484, with an annual maintenance fee of € 140 + vat.
Book Grants
All book grants are now gone.

ECO WEEK 19th - 23rd April 2010
Next week the Green Schools Committee shall be running a series of activities for Eco Week. Below are a schedule of the weeks events:

Monday – Green Schools Committee Members shall do a clean up of the schools grounds.
Tuesday – Electricity Conservation Day
All electrical appliances shall be turned off for the day.
Wednesday - WALK ON WEDNESDAY
All children are encouraged to walk to school. Those that live too far away to walk may be dropped a short distance from school and allowed to walk the remaining distance.
Thursday - Senior Class Debating
Motion: Recycling should be compulsory
Friday – Eco Week Assembly
Staff and pupils shall participate in an Environmental Awareness Assembly.
