February 2010 - Newsletter

Adamstown Castle Educate Together – February 2010 Newsletter

Dear All

A belated Happy New Year!
• Office hours – now that the office is up and running, please note that all enrolments are to be left with Deirdre. Office hours are 9.15-12.15, Monday to Friday.
• Our calendar on the website has been updated. All the activities in the school are on that with contact numbers for anybody wishing to partake in Ballet, Tae Kwando, Indian Dancing, Irish Dancing, Go Play, Hockey, Olympic Handball, Cricket, weight loss classes, Russian, Adult Soccer Club, GAA, Catholic Religion Classes, English Language Classes for Adults.
• Also on the website, you will find information on our very active Students’ Council and Green Flag Committee
• Swine Flu – We have no date as of yet for when the HSE will be visiting. Also it has come to our attention that some families have not received a form, we have been on to the HSE a number of times regarding this and are awaiting a delivery.
• Thank you to Vitalie and Tina, parents of Torsten from Martha’s class for their kind donation of books to the school. If you wish to donate age appropriate books to the school, we would be delighted to hear from you.
• Unlike most schools in the area, we have been very fortunate in that we have suffered no vandalism whatsoever over the past two years. Unfortunately, we had a large window broken recently. I would ask parents to text me should you see any groups on the school grounds outside of school hours on 087-9687142.
• Thank you to Sarah & Fabrice. Sarah as you may not be aware is our very competent and meticulous treasurer on the BOM. Since we opened, Sarah has been looking after our finances and our billing. Sarah & Fabrice designed a superb system for the running of the school which she sells to other schools for the nominal sum of €100. All proceeds from this have been donated to our school to enable us to purchase a Sra Reading laboratory and reading materials for the school. Thanks Sarah & Fabrice!
• Text a Parent is now up and running. Thank you for returning your mobile numbers, we would like to advise you that we can only use one number per family. It is your responsibility to inform us if you change your mobile number.
• We would appreciate it if you could also provide us with an email address so we can keep you up to date with our Green Flag Initiative.
• French classes are being held in St. John’s The evangelist, please contact Sabine on sabinemaher@gmail.com for further details
• The school will close @ 12.10 this Friday 5th February for a Staff Meeting. A reminder4 will be sent by text, if you do not receive this, please contact Deirdre on 01-6540088.
• The IT Spec for the new Thin Client System for the school has been put up on our blog. If you know of any company who would like to submit a tender, please direct to www.acetns.ie The closing date for submissions is Friday 26th February 2010.
